"We are already experiencing an enormous interest in purchasing tickets—we predict that demand will far exceed supply, so expect lines at ticket offices and at the online shop. Although the number seats at the newly renovated celebration venues has increased—30 000 seats in Mezaparks and 10 000 at the Daugava Stadium—it is clear that there won’t be enough tickets for everyone wishing to attend the final concerts on the Mežaparks stage and the Large Dance Performance at Daugava Stadium.
The Celebration programme consists of 63 exciting events, two thirds of which will be free of charge. We are also calling on local authorities to assess the possibility of organising public viewings of Celebration events for their local citizens in city parks and cultural centres. Many of the events will be broadcast on Latvian Television, and they will be shown throughout the world on social media platforms," explains Eva Juhņēviča, CEO of the Celebration organisation.
74% of the tickets to the Large Dance Concert “Mara's Country” and the Closing Concert “Following the Starry Path” will be on sale to the general public, while 24% of the tickets will be available for prior reservation, most of which will be offered to municipal governments as thanks for their contributions to ensuring the success of the Celebration events. Ticket reservations will also be available to various social groups, such as people with disabilities and large families with the 3+ Family Card, as well as certain other groups—keepers of Song Celebration traditions abroad—the World Federation of Free Latvians, the European Latvian Association, and others. Invitations to the upcoming Song and Dance Celebration are not expected to exceed 2% of the total number of tickets.
In order to ensure the transparency of the ticket reservation and invitation issuing systems, Celebration organisers have created a special oversight committee. The committee will make proposals for decisions on invitations and reservations in accordance with the organisation's ticket policy, approve the invitation list, and authorise requests for ticket reservations, etc.
The XXVI Latvian Song and XVI Dance Celebration will energise Riga from 30 June to 8 July, 2018 as part of Latvia's Centenary programme.
The XXVI Latvian Song and XVI Dance Celebration is organised by the Latvian National Centre for Culture, an auxiliary of the Latvian Ministry of Culture and supported by major donors Swedbank, Elektrum, and Latvian Mobile Telephone.
