This performance brings to life several of Latvian author and playwright Rūdolfs Blaumanis' lesser-known works - Spījēnos (In Spījēni), Romeo un Jūlija (Romeo and Juliet), Nauda zeķēs (Saving Money), Laimes klēpī (In the Lap of Fortune), Īsta līgaviņa (The Real Bride), and others. These works centered around human emotions - joy and sorrow, longing and doubt, the complicated soul, and everyday life in the 19th century. It is possible that many of these early stories provided material for Blaumanis' more famous plays.
