The Festival's tenth anniversary is being planned as an ambitious contemporary art exhibition, performance, and discursive event in two acts - September 2018 and May 2019. The idea for Survival Kit 10 is based on an exploration of the concept outland. It will interrogate the traditional geopolitical and cultural divisions 'centre and periphery'. The outland is not always difficult to reach both literally and figuratively. Although their physical distance from Riga is similar, Western Europe is the outland theme, the Festival will also address migration, a critical issue not only for Latvia, but for the world as well because migration has activated a string of other problems - racism, growing far-right nationalism, and intolerance. Survival Kit 10 invites artists from Latvia and abroad to create new pieces that address these issues.
