This week marks one hundred years since the creation of the Latvian Provisional National Council
One hundred years ago, at the end of 1917, Latvian Provisional National Council was established in Valka. By uniting the regions of Kurzeme, Vidzeme, and Latgale, and by promoting the idea of Latvian independence at home and abroad, the Council laid the groundwork to found the Republic of Latvia on 18 November 1918.

Conference is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the M. Juglas battle. The goal of this conference is to commemorate and promote Latvian riflemen history. The target audience of conference are military historians, history teachers, enthusiasts and students.
Exhibition "Burning Conscience"
BURNING CONSCIENCE will be permanent exhibition on the resistance of the people of the former Cēsis apriņķis (District) against the Soviet and Nazi occupations 1940 – 1957. The Exbition will be open to the public from 23 August 2018.
12 Characters from the Prado Collection
The exhibition 12 Characters from the Prado Collection – twelve masterpieces by world famous artists which have brought joy to millions of viewers over the centuries at Spain’s largest museum, the PRADO, will be on show for the first time in the Baltic region. This exhibition is a special present to Latvia’s Centenary from patrons Boris and Ināra Teterev.
More than 40% of the total budget of Latvia’s Centenary assigned to the „Latvian School Bag”
The initiative „Latvian School Bag” is the biggest gift of Latvia to its more than 200 000 pupils. Starting September 2018, it will integrate exploration and experiencing of natural and cultural values, scientific achievements and successful business models into the school programmes and make it accessible to every schoolchild in Latvia.
